Grace A.M.E. Church Board of Stewards
The Grace A.M.E. Church Board of Stewards serves as spiritual advisors for the congregation and representatives of the pastor and ministerial staff. The board’s role is to foster and support spiritual growth and well-being and financial accountability in the church. We welcome your presence at Grace, and encourage you to worship and become a part of God’s family.
As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
1 Peter 4:10
Grace A.M.E. Church Board of Trustees
Being a trustee in God’s church is an honor and comes with great responsibility. The Trustee Board manages all of the temporal concerns of the church to include all real estate such as parsonages and other church properties. When authorized, the Trustee Board also can make improvements to these church properties.
Joint Usher Board
The Joint Usher Board consists of the Lady, Male, Young Adult and Junior usher boards. Ushers play a vital role in meeting the needs of the congregation and keeping the church service running smoothly and orderly, which helps put the congregation in the right frame of mind to receive God’s word. An usher is often the first person a visitor will encounter at the church. And, the way a visitor is greeted at the door often will determine whether that visitor will come again. That’s why it’s so important that ushers greet people with a pleasant smile and warm welcome and make them feel important and appreciated.
Commission on Stewardship and Finance
The purpose of the Commission on Stewardship and Finance is to promote and cultivate Christian stewardship and administer the financial program of the church. Comprised of the pastor, stewards, trustees and members-at-large, the commission determines the church’s budget and ensures there is sufficient income to cover the budget. The commission also provides financial reports during the church’s official board meetings and quarterly conferences.
Young People’s Department
The Young People’s Department (YPD) represents the youth division of the Fields, Hayes, Young Missionary Society. The YPD’s motto is “Grow, Glow and Go for Christ” and the uniform is forest green, which is symbolic of growth and Christian vitality, and white, which represents purity, light and faith. The YPD consists of the Sunbeams, ages 2-6; the Allen Stars, ages 7-12; the Young People’s Auxiliary, ages 13-17; and the Young Adult Division, ages 18 and over. The YPD meets every third Saturday from 1:30-3 p.m.
Richard Allen Young Adult Council
The Richard Allen Young Adult Council is a new generation of believers ages 21 to 39 who are in the midst of life’s transition and looking to answer the call of ministering to the intellectual, spiritual and physical needs of its generation. This is done through initiatives in discipleship, leadership, young adult ministry and social action.
Fields, Hayes, Young Missionary Society
The Fields, Hayes, Young Missionary Society provides services to both congregants and the community at large, particularly in times of crisis. In addition to humanitarian work, missionaries often go outside the church to share their faith and convince others to join. According to Mark 16:15, “And He said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”
